The S&P 500 gained 29 points last week. I expected it to go slightly higher.
Here is the expected breakdown for the week of August 17, 2026, to August 21, 2026.
The planet in the Vimshottri scheme is the Sun, and its term of office is Aug 16 – Aug 18. The Sun occupies the sign Cancer in the seventh house and makes no aspect. The Sun is a neutral planet, and it occupies the sign of its friend. This may cause the market to remain flat.
A new monthly solar return chart will be applicable from August 20 to September 19, 2026. The description of the monthly chart is given on the front page. Visitors interested in the details can look at the front page, the Monthly Forecast section, and Read More… Here I describe only the shorter periods.
Saturn is the compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for August 20 -23. Saturn is retrograde and occupies the tenth house in the sign Aries in the monthly solar chart. Saturn is a malefic planet and gives poor results. However, it is aspected by Jupiter, and it makes a trine angle with Mercury. The market may, therefore, remain flat or go sideways during these days.
Transits during this week:
The Sun is now transiting Leo, a sign it rules. On Monday (Aug 17), the Moon transits Libra, and it makes a trine aspect with Rahu. As a result, the stock market may end slightly higher on Monday.
On Tuesday (Aug 18), the Moon moves on to Scorpio, and it forms a square aspect with Jupiter. As a result, Tuesday may be a flat day for the markets, as the Moon is weak in this sign.
On Wednesday (Aug 19), the Moon continues to transit in Scorpio. It makes a square aspect with the Sun. Wednesday may therefore also be a flat day.
On Thursday (Aug 20), the Moon, while transiting in Sagittarius, makes a trine aspect with Jupiter. The net result of which can be a slightly higher day for the markets.
The Moon continues to advance in Sagittarius, and Venus enters Libra on Friday, August 14. The Moon makes a Shubhkartari Yoga with Venus in Libra and Jupiter in Leo. The Sun is also strong in Leo. Friday may be a higher day in the stock market.
By combining the transit and CVD techniques, I have estimated the stock market’s daily behavior as follows.
Monday: Flat; Tuesday: Slightly lower; Wednesday: Flat; Thursday: Slightly higher; Friday: Slightly higher.
