To use astrology for any purpose, we need a chart indicating the positions of the planets at the time of the birth. How do we find a chart for a stock? The astrologers use the IPO trading date as the date of birth of the stock and the opening time of the stock exchange at which it is traded as the time of birth. After considerable research on hundred’s of companies, I found that this is only partly true. One should not only look at the IPO chart but also the founding date chart.
Founding date Chart. The real birth of a company takes place when the company is established, or registered with a name and address in a government established agency such as a city hall. For example, Amazon.Com was founded on July 5, 1994 in Bellevue, WA. To erect an astrological chart, we need date, time and place of birth. From the company archives, one can somehow find the date and place of registration. But it seems almost impossible to find the time of registration. In such a situation it is customary to use noon chart, which seems quite reasonable. This is what are also going to do.
First trade date or IPO date chart. Since founding or establishment date of a company is not always easily available, one has to use the first-trade-chart of a company. Even while using this chart, the time of the birth has to be modified for the time zone where the company is located, and for the place of birth, one should use the head quarter of the company and not the location of the stock exchange. For example, the stock of the Apple Co (symbol AAPL) started trading on NASDAQ on Dec 12, 1980. Nasdaq opened for trading at 10 AM. Corresponding time at the headquarter San Francisco was 7 AM PST. Therefore for AAPL, DOB is 12/12/1980, TOB is 7:00 AM, and POB is San Francisco. Some astrologers do not convert the time to HQ time. In my opinion, that is not right, because it is possible that on a certain day, many different stocks may be IPO’d. If we do not change the time, all those stocks will have the same chart. But we know that different stocks perform differently and therefore should have different charts. It is also important to understand that this chart will represent the stock of the company and not the company itself. Since we are only interested in studying how a stock will perform, or be perceived by the market, this chart is good enough for our purpose particularly if the founding date is not available.
