Aug 12 – 16, 2024

The S&P500 lost only 2 points last week. I was expecting a slightly higher market. What was surprising, was the rollar coaster ride.

Here is the expected breakdown for the week of  August 12, 2024 to August 16, 2024

The compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for  Aug 09 – Aug 12 is Saturn. Saturn is a malefic planet. It is retrograde and occupies the 8th house in the sign, Pisces. It rules the seventh house and makes no close aspects with any planet. As a result, the market may go lower during these days.

The compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for  Aug 13 – Aug 16 is Mercury. Mercury is a neutral planet by nature. It rules the second house and occupies the first house in the sign, Leo. It makes square aspects with Mars and Uranus in the tenth house of the monthly solar chart. The sqaure aspect with two planets is not a good setup. Consequently, the market may end lower during this period.

Transits during this week:  Jupiter is advancing in the sign Gemini while Uranus continues to transit through Taurus during this week. Rahu is transiting in Aries and Ketu in Libra. The Sun advances in Leo, whereas Venus has moved into its worst sign, Virgo. Mercury has turned retrograde and is moving back towards Leo. Saturn and Neptune are well established in Pisces. However, both have turned retrograde now. Retrograde Saturn is not a welcome feature. Mars is advancing in Gemini, a sign of its dislike. It has started making square aspect with retrograde Saturn, which is not a welcome situation. The planets, Sun and Mercury, are strong, but Venus gets weak.

The Moon transits in Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshta, Mula, and Purva-Asharda. Moon does not help the stock market in Jyeshta and Mula. The Moon and the Sun form some bad yogas during this week. It also form a few square and opposition aspects with other planets. Combining the transit and CVD techniques, the following is my estimate of the daily behavior of the stock market.

Monday: Flat; Tuesday: Higher;   Wednesday: Lower;   Thursday: Lower;   Friday: Slightly higher

Overall, the S&P500 may go Lower during this week.
