Oct 12 -16, 2026

The S&P 500 gained 89 points last week. I was also expected it to go slightly higher. Even my daily forecast was accurate this time. Although the S&P 500 doesn’t show the market in a downtrend, most sectors have performed poorly in recent months.

Here is the expected breakdown for the week of October 12, 2026, to October 16, 2026.

1. Vimshottri periods in the NYSE chart: Mercury/Rahu/Mercury/Rahu until October 26: Stocks can be volatile, but technology stocks can hold the market up.

2. Monthly Solar Return Chart since September 20:

Mercury is the compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for October 12 – 16. Mercury occupies the third house in the sign Libra in the monthly solar chart. Mercury is a neutral planet, and it gets the square aspect of weak Mars in the twelfth house. The market may, therefore,  go lower during these days.

Ketu is the next in line in the CVD scheme. Its control period runs from October 17 to October 18. It occupies the second house, and its sign is Leo. It is thus malefic and weak. The markets can thus go lower.

3. Transits during this week:

The Sun is now transiting Libra, a sign of its fall. On Monday (Oct 12), the Moon transits Scorpio, and it gets the aspect of Mars. The soli-lunar quarter is the first, which is generally unfavorable. Therefore, the stock market can go lower.

On Tuesday (Oct 13), the Moon advances in Scorpio and makes a square aspect with Rahu and Ketu. As a result, Tuesday may also be a lower day for the markets.

On Wednesday (Oct 14), the Moon moves over to Sagittarius. It makes a trine aspect with Mars. Wednesday may therefore also be a slightly higher day.

On Thursday (Oct15), the Moon transits in Sagittarius and gets the aspect of Jupiter. The net result may be a higher day in the markets.

On Friday (Oct 16), the Moon transits in Capricorn, and its Tithi is the 6th of the bright half, which is generally negative for US stocks. Friday may be a lower day in the stock market.

By combining the transit and CVD techniques, I have estimated the stock market’s daily behavior as follows.

Monday: Lower; Tuesday: Lower; Wednesday: Flat;  Thursday: Higher ; Friday: Slightly lower.

Overall, the S&P 500 is expected to be volatile and end modestly lower this week.
