Jan 20 – 24, 2025

The S&P500 gained 175 points last week. My forecast this week was not correct.

Here is the expected breakdown for the week of  January 20, 2025, to January 24, 2025

A new monthly solar return chart is applicable from January 16 and will stay effective until February 14, 2025. The month lord is the Sun, which occupies the 4th house in the sign Capricorn. Mars, the critical planet, is situated opposite to it.  Mars is retrograde and is in the fallen sign, Cancer. This setup is very unfavorable. Moon also occupies the 12th house in the sign Virgo. Moon is opposite Venus and Saturn, and they occupy the sixth house. This setup is also not favorable. Retrograde Jupiter occupies the 9th house and makes square aspects with Venus, Saturn and Moon. This is a desirable setup. This T-square arrangement can only give inauspicious results. Moon gets the aspect of Venus. This is a positive feature. Combining all of the above, I see a predominance of negative features. This month, therefore, looks only slightly bearish to me.

The compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for  Jan 17 – Jan 21 is Venus, which occupies the sixth house in the sign Pisces. Venus gets the aspect of Moon in the twelfth house and Saturn sits close to it. It also makes a square arrangement with retrograde Jupiter in the ninth house. Consequently, the market may be volatile but may end up going higher.

The compressed Vimshottri dasha planet for  Jan 22 – Jan 23 is the Sun, which occupies the fourth house in the sign Capricorn. It also has a opposite aspect with Mars occupying the tenth house, which is also an unfavorable aspect. However, it makes a trine aspect with Uranus. Consequently, the market may remain flat during these days.

Transits during this week:  Retrograde Jupiter remains in Gemini, causing volatility. Mars also turned retrograde three weeks ago and now transiting in its sign of fall, Cancer. It makes a sextile aspect with retrograde Uranus. Even then, the maleficent influence of fallen and retrograde Mars cannot benefit the markets. Saturn makes a square aspect with transiting Jupiter. This aspect is not favorable. Venus is transiting in Pisces, which is a favorable sign for it. And it makes a sextile aspect with Mercury.  This situation is highly favorable. The Sun is advancing in Aquarius this week. Mercury is moving fast in the sign Capricorn, a friendly sign. Moon transits Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. The tithis of the Moon (Krishna Paksha seventh to eleventh) correspond to the fourth quarter, which is quite helpful for the market.

Combining the transit and CVD techniques, I have estimated the stock market’s daily behavior to be the following.

Monday: Flat; Tuesday: Flat;   Wednesday: Flat;   Thursday: Flat;   Friday: Slightly higher.

Overall, the S&P500 may go slightly higher or remain flat this week.
